Hi everyone, it will soon be the season to enjoy Satsuma mandarins (mikan) in Japan! How about going Satsuma mandarin picking in Kurume?
In Kurume, Satsuma mandarins that ripen earlier are now available in supermarkets. At Kisshouen, an orchard located in the town of Tanushimaru, the Satsuma mandarin picking season started in late October, and you can enjoy the activity until late November! In Japan, there is a custom of eating vitamin-rich mandarins to avoid catching a cold in the cold winter season.
For those of you coming to Fukuoka or Kurume in the fall, how about enjoying not only persimmon picking but also Satsuma mandarin picking?
Satsuma Mandarin picking season: October 26th to late November
