See Bright Red Wax Trees at the Yanagisaka Wax Tree Festival
During the autumn foliage season from mid-November to early December, the Yanagisaka Wax Tree Festival is held. This is when rows of about 260 wax trees covering a distance of about 1.2 km turn bright red.
Just past the rows of wax trees and just after entering the trail on Mt. Kabuto (fondly known as “Mt. Keshikeshi”), you will see the maple trees of Eishoji Temple.
Wax trees were used to make candle wax during the Edo period (1603-1867).
Please take the Nishitetsu bus from Nishitetsu-Kurume Station and get off at "Yanagisaka," and you will soon see bright red wax trees!
Event period: November 16th (Sat.) to the 24th (Sun.)
Autumn foliage season: Mid-November to early December (Please note that the best time to see the leaves may change depending on the climate.)
