Re-opened as a museum on February 1st, 1984, this building was originally headquarters of Kusano Bank from its construction in July of 1910. Styled with an eclectic symmetry of Eastern and Western architecture, it is registered as a National Cultural Asset. Decorated with the Kusano family crest on the gate and trellis, the design expresses the enthusiasm with which advanced civilization was absorbed by the people of Kusano, which prospered as the center of the former Mitsui County. Displayed inside this museum are materials such as ancient documents and historical paintings related to the Kusano Clan, a powerful family in this region.
